1. The working environment temperature of the structure.

The plasticity and toughness of steel decrease with the decrease of temperature, and the toughness decreases sharply at low temperature, especially in the brittle change temperature region, brittle fracture easily occurs. Therefore, for steel structures that often work at low negative temperatures or may work at low negative temperatures, especially welded structures, steels with good chemical composition and mechanical properties should be selected, and the brittleness change temperature is lower than the working environment temperature of the structure.

2. Connection method.

Connections can be soldered or non-soldered. For welded structures, uneven cooling during the welding process tends to produce high welding residual stress on the components; welded structures and inevitable welding defects often cause crack damage to the structure; the overall continuity and stiffness of welded structures are good , it is easy to make defects or cracks penetrate and expand each other; in addition, excessive carbon and sulfur content will seriously affect the welding performance of steel. Therefore, the quality requirements of welded structural steel should be higher than that of non-welded structural steel, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus and other harmful elements, and the plasticity and toughness should be better.
